Phillip Nash – Ceramicist
Phillip deliberately produces pots which display the naiveté and robustness of working items rather than more delicate show items. His pots all feature sturdiness, exemplifying durability and resilience and his main decorative feature is to give a ‘chattered*’ exterior. His glazes are normally functional rather than ornamental although they are not recommended for foodstuffs.

*Chattering – is a decorative technique where a flexible metal tool is allowed to jump across the surface of a leatherhard piece of pottery on the wheel, making regular ditch like depressions on the surface.
