Billericay Art Trail’s “Portrait Artist of the Year” Competition – but with a difference.
10 people will be competing for the title. They’ll be painting one of two sitters. The artists will be in the centre of the Church; you’ll be free to wander around the edges and see the artists at work, and watch as their paintings develop – as well as look at the amazing artwork on display.
Over a 4 hour period, each artist will create their own portrait using their own choice of medium and techniques to capture the image.
Not only will the winner get the prestigious title of “Billericay Portrait Artist of the Year” – but they’ll be competing for a cash prize of £200, with the runner up getting £50.
New this year is “The People’s Choice Trophy” – during the event and for a week afterwards, you’ll be able to vote on which YOU think is the best portrait. The judges have had their say; now it’s your turn! You can vote during the event, and for the following week all of the portraits will be on display in St Mary’s for you to get “up close and personal” and make your own decision. There’s a great prize awaiting the winner – a £100 bouquet of brushes kindly donated by Rosemary Brushes, and a £50 gift voucher towards a workshop run by Barnes Atelier – a working Fine Art Studio and School.
The competition starts at 11:00, models will have 15 minute breaks at 11:45, 12:45, 13:45 and 14:45 – but it’s almost certain our artists will be beavering away throughout !
Between 15:00 and 15:30 our independent panel of judges will review all of the finished works before announcing the winners at 15:30.
