Sculptor: Aden Hynes

What connects the 1994 Pink Floyd album Division Bell; Angry Birds; a large 2006 BAFTA mask and the Hitch Hiker’s Guide to the Galaxy’s Space Pod ?

We asked this question as a teaser on our Facebook page. The answer is local – but internationally known – sculptor, Aden Hynes who will be one of 50 artists exhibiting at the 2017 Billericay Art Trail.

We are fortunate to have a number of examples of Aden’s creations. His host venue will be The Cater Museum garden – a beautiful setting (own up, how many of you have never been in the Cater Museum’s garden ?). He’ll also feature in St Mary Magdalen Church and we’ve got an absolutely amazing work lined up for in Billericay Library which we are really looking forward to revealing.

The question highlighted examples of the breadth of Aden’s work:

– He created the two facing heads which were used on Pink Floyd’s “Division Bell” album cover -they are 7.5 metres tall!

– A giant Angry Birds Egg and Nest were sculpted as a red carpet feature at the Angry Birds Movie promo event in Cannes.

– A 4 metre tall carving of the BAFTA mask was made for the 2006 BAFTA Award Ceremony and was hung at the back of the stage

– The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy Space Pod was a movie prop made by Aden.

Aden runs the Sculpture Studios – sculpturestudios.co.uk .
